POSITION OVERVIEW

The Solution Architect (SA) is accountable to create solutions, to support current and foreseeable changes due to new technical or business requirements. The solutions are functionality appropriate, technically sound well integrated and support reuse within existing ecosystem and by other LOBs. The SA develops the solution architecture by collaborating with Business units, Architecture, Development, Security and Operations and provides value-added, professional advice to the Lead Solution Architect, Senior management team, and business partners. The SA is accountable to ensure proposed solution architectures are consistent with Enterprise/Line of Business (LOB)-wide initiatives and aligns with the roadmaps established by Enterprise Architecture and LOB.

Reporting to the Director, Solutions Architecture, you will work closely with a team of Solution and Enterprise Architects (across multiple domains and platforms. This role is responsible for the security posture of applications and technical infrastructure by driving security in the design and development process, developing, or validating security requirements, and driving successful completion of security evaluation and testing. This role will allow you to gain exposure to many areas of BDC business and be in the forefront to understanding business challenges and provide innovative solutions to address them.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Translate business requirements into long-term architectural solutions for the business with aim to ease the sharing of consistent information between lines of business.

  • Integrate in project teams as an expert in solution architecture cybersecurity domain. Guide and propose technological solutions that meet business needs while remaining aligned with IT strategies.

  • Lead and/or participate to the design of solution architectures and associated artefacts while ensuring alignment with security policies, standards, and best practices in our industry. The solution architect cybersecurity is responsible to advise teams regarding the security risks and drive mitigation approaches.

  • Focus on application patterns and non-functional requirements, architectural reference models, application interface types, and service-oriented architecture.

  • Participates in the system specification review process to ensure system requirements can be translated into valid architecture.

  • Create and seek approval of architecture artifacts at the ARB (Architecture Review Board) and communicate architecture decisions and key solutions impacts to project stakeholders.

  • Identifies risks or issues with technology solution & design which may impact realization of project benefits and provides guidance and support to stakeholders in making good decisions to proactively resolve or mitigate potential risks/delays to the project.

  • Lead or participate in RFP technical requirements, including preparation and vendor’s response evaluation.

  • Lead the technical solution evaluations, proofs of concept, prototypes, and testing procedures and make recommendations, ensuring alignment between the solutions and the target architecture. Assist in architectural solution designs, roadmaps and related strategies that are aligned to Enterprise Security Standards.

  • Keep abreast of ongoing research and new technology, evaluate their applicability, and make recommendations as required to enable BDC to best align its technology to meet its business objectives.

  • Support implementation of approved architectures as subject matter expert, compliance monitor, and go-to data architectural authority on projects.

  • Provides technical leadership and consultation to development teams related to detailed design. Mentor scrum teams with best architecture patterns, approaches, and designs

  • Identifies and researches relevant technologies, performs Spikes/ Proof of Concepts / Prototypes, and recommends applications of such technologies to future product architectures.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Professional Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in solution architecture and design, preferably cybersecurity in financial services or banking industry, including tools and techniques in developing solution architecture artefacts.

  • In-depth experience (5-10 years) in the study, design and implementation of information architectures for large, well-integrated transactional, collaborative and analytical systems.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP or working towards them (Asset)

  • Experience with architecture frameworks (TOGAF, SAFe, other) – certification is an asset.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Master foundational architecture framework, architecture systems evaluation, risk analysis and management, fit–gap analysis.

  • Systems and platform experience, including web, cloud (Public, Private & Hybrid). Master Microsoft Technology Stack.

  • In-depth business knowledge and technical expertise in one or more areas, such as:

  • Application Integration, API development and management (MuleSoft), DevSecOps, Tanzu.

  • Network architecture, firewalls, VPN, PKI, encryption, common cloud platforms,

  • Security controls related to the above technologies.

  • SSDLC methodologies such as SAST, DAST and similar.

  • Solid understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization, and security

  • Good working knowledge of current IT risks and experience implementing security solutions.

  • Experience implementing multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, identity management or related technologies.

  • In-dept experience with Identity & Access Management & Gouvernance, protecting information, preventing & managing from threats & Vulnerabilities, monitoring & Operating Security, Governing Risk & Compliance (GRC)

  • Experience within a digital banking program in a major financial institution (major asset)

  • Experience with Agile Scrum/Kanban, DevOps, and Continuous Integration / Deployment / Delivery

  • Experience with technology product evaluation, selection, acquisition, and deployment processes.

  • Expert ability to manage multiple projects high in complexity and of strategic importance.

  • Team player with demonstrated leadership abilities.

  • Preferred location: Montreal or easy commute.

  • Financial industry experience (asset).

  • Hybrid work environment (2-3 days /week on site)
