Key job responsibilities

  • Represent the voice of the customer, collaborate with field and central teams to bring customer feedback to product teams. Lead curation of custom feature and availability requests for unique customer use cases.

  • Provide advanced technical knowledge to your aligned GTM teams to unblock our customers’ largest and most critical business challenges.

  • Along with your extended team, own the technical bar for specialist technical artifacts and standards.

  • Collaborate with your GTM colleagues to provide technical insights into GTM strategy and support field marketing to execute local technical events, campaigns, and customer engagements.

  • Act as a thought leader sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures and public-speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re: Invent, etc.

  • Guide and Support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts aligned to your customers. Create field enablement materials for the broader SA population to help them understand how to integrate new AWS solutions into customer architectures.

  • Comfortable presenting to audiences large and small, including presenting solutions to senior executives (up to CxO level)

  • Knowledge of cloud or infrastructure operations (e.g. prior in-house infra/cloud operations experience or prior Managed Service Provider experience).

  • Strong ability to determine solution strategy and where to simplify or extend solutions for the best outcome

  • Ability to influence customer and internal business decision makers as a technical thought leader

  • Ability to write high quality technical and business documents

  • Solution / Sales consultative selling (preferably from a service / cloud services background)

  • Preference for someone with vertical expertise (e.g. FSI, PubSec) given our new vertical focus

A day in the life

AWS is seeking Specialist Solutions Architects for the AWS Managed Services team. You will be working with customers from initial interest, requirements gathering, solutioning with AWS and AWS Managed Services technologies, and ensuring customers successfully onboard and realize meaningful, scaled, production outcomes operating with AWS Managed Services.

To do this, you'll work closely with AWS service teams, other solutions architecture specialists, AWS partner teams, and AWS customer account teams to ensure customer success. You will work hand-in-hand with senior executives, though to customer engineers on opportunities to improve customers’ IT services.

You must possess customer facing skills that enable you to represent AWS well within a customer’s environment and drive discussions with senior personnel regarding solution fit, program delivery, trade-offs, best practices, and risk management. You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges as you help our customers take advantage of the efficiencies, cost savings and quick innovation available in the AWS cloud.

The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is part of AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS), which is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. We work backwards from our customer’s most complex and business critical problems to build and execute go-to- market plans that turn AWS ideas into multi-billion-dollar businesses. WWSO teams include business development, specialist and technical solutions architecture. As part of WWSO, you'll provide expertise across the entire life cycle of an AWS customer initiative, from developing ideas for new services to accelerating the adoption of established businesses. Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or experience in a professional field or military

  • Experience in IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries

  • Experience within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).

  • Experience in design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures

  • Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking

  • Experience working with end user or developer communities
